How Will You Spend Your Days?

1/5/2025

Picture
Do you believe that the way we spend our days is the way we live our life?
At the start of a new year our thoughts naturally turn to goal setting, new disciplines and promises to really make something of this year. We consider it as a collective whole and make our plans accordingly. But what if we considered the days - or just today - and sought to spend it doing things of value and meaning? How would that change the way we set our goals at the start of this new year? What if our goals for 2025 were to stress less, play more, and to deepen friendships?
What if today my goals were:
• have coffee with my son before he leaves for work
•
walk in the woods with my dog
• read aloud with my daughter by the fire

Would that help me make something of this year? I believe it would and I’m going to give it a try! How about you? Let’s embrace this year, day by day, not constantly strive for the next great thing because we already have so much.
Time is fleeting. I just blinked and found my big family is now mostly grown. Acceptance seems a fitting word for 2025 because it promises to be a year full of (joyful) changes, surprises, and growth. Where is my tea cup...

As I straddle the fence of a new decade and look back over my adult life, I consider the many lessons I’ve learned:
• perfection is a myth
• pride is for lions
• accolades are soon forgotten
     But

• hugs are just about always a good idea
• encouraging words and smiles touch a child’s soul
• time spent with loved ones is never wasted
     Yes! Along with
many cups of tea, I want to weave these lessons into my daily goals and aspirations for this new year.
So tell me, how do you plan to spend the days of your one wild and precious life?
